I want to add a transgo shift kit in the future. I have been reading that this may cause problems with an older transmission. Should I stay away from it, or will this cause no problems?

Well it will cause problems is installed incorrectly. 75K mi isn't that high of milage. If done properly it will lengthen the life of the tranny but eliminating the factory short comings.
