Gm has released now 4 styles of the small block 1st gen would be the original 302/327/350 them they had the TPI and vortec era which would be gen 2 and then the 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 which are gen 3 and now the the ls7/ls2 style new engines which are gen 4.

I thought LT1-LT5 were generation 2 small blocks.

I was wrong about the LT5, it's a different engine altogether. However I was dead on about the LT1/4
