Today I switched back to my stock filter box and tube, except I changed back to the descreened maf. I think the truck idles better as well as quieter during idle. As far as performance, not sure yet, it doesn't feel like it lost any power. I want to get a K&N replacement filter and maybe fab up a new tube. I may try and see if I can get the K&N tube to fit, and see if that helps any.

Here's two of my posts on LS1TECH about the OEM airbox and and AirAid MIT tube.
They may help. I'm starting to believe the OEM intake is pretty good but can be made a little better. My truck felt better driving around town, I think the OEM setup deliveries the best driving around town characteristics but may lose some on the top end vs an aftermarket intake.

Well, actually reading some of your posts over on ls1tech is why I decided to switch back to my stock intake. From driving yesterday, my truck actualy feels like it pulls a little harder up top, but I don't notice much gain or loss down low.

I have also went back to the stick airbox with the k&N filter and Grantelli MAF sensor. It seems to have more low end than it had with the open air filter. But it still runs strong.

Well, its back to complete stock config (original paper filter, hardly a spec of dust on it). It seems that I have not lost much if any low end power, and seems to pull alot more throughout the power band. I am trying to get a replacement k&n filter and see if there is any performance gains. I just don't want to pay $50 for one. I may check into a home made tube to see if there is any performance gains there.

Here's a dyno graph I found over on the www.silveradoss.com forum. The guy replaced the stock tube with a K&N tube and gain 7 hp with the swap. He's a tuner for our trucks (www.pcmforless.com), sounds like he's got a nice SS.

Yeah, I want to see if I can get the K&N tube to fit with stock box. I looked at it the other day, and it didn't look like I could get it to fix, didn't have too much time to fool around with it. I honestly think the design of the stock box is the best (just my though).

The first intake I had was a K&N FIPK, when I went back to the stock air box I tried to use the K&N tube, it didn't line up. I like the AirAid MIT replacement tube I bought, feels like I picked up a few ponies. It was $115.66 delivered, I bought it from www.macromotive.com which is the cheapest place I found. The cost may seem like alot for a tube but I've seen exhaust systems dynoed in magazine that pick up 10 hp for $350+, if I got 5-7 hp for $115, it's worth the cost to me.

I would like to try the airaide tube, but I think I could fab up a tube for a little less. But for the time being I am happy with the stock set up.
