Ok, so I am planning on getting an LS1 cam within the next couple of months. I have been reading some of the post and I am wondering if I am gonna loose to much lower end power and torque. With the 4.8 I need all I can get.

    Thanks,
    Randy

NOT AT ALL. The LS1 cam I have is great. The new TQ curve is better, flat and stronger. The old cam TQ was stronger down low BUT died off quickly... The LS1 cam will more than make-up the diffferents on top end. Think of it this way, little more TQ just in a different spot. Plus more HP!! Best Mod so far and the price is not bad.

I didn't notice any loss in lowend power, but if there was any, the mid and topend made up for it. Even if you lost just a tad , say under 2K rpms, it would begin to pull harder than the stock cam would right after that mark.
Like protruk said, you'll make up for it on the mid and topend.

So, protruk, how's the truck running and how do you like the cheap upgrade?

Well, I think I will be getting one from farmtruc, and I think it will be a 98. From the posts that I have read, it seems that a 98 LS1 or a 2000 vette would be the best. Ok, I am sold, this will be my next mod.

Best mod so far. Now I just need a tune!! But no money right now, my wife 98 3/4ton Sub. 454ci broke a axle seal. And it's all over the brakes in the rear. Damm thing is stopping with just the front brakes, NOT FUN IN TRAFFIC.. Anyways, it doen't look like I can get a tune from you before the 2nd.

I'm starting to lean towards the hotcam myself, i'll be buying one in the next couple of months, before the ls1tech shootout.
It has a nice sound and seems to make some good numbers. Anybody got some more dyno graphs on the hotcam in any engine?

    thanks,

    allen
