Well I am in a dilemma. I have a 1990 chevy pickup that I had a 383 lt1 stroker motor in. I ended up blowing up 4 pistons so I tore it down and had all the machine work done to it and new pistons installed. In the meantime I ended up buying a 6.0 and trans, 2800 stall as well as a z06 cam and springs. I had decide to run this to be a little more driveable without the headaches. My dilemma is I am about to put the truck back together and I am not sure what to do. i am afraid if I use the 6.0 I will be very dissapointed in the power compared to the 450 horse 383. What are your guys' thoughts on this? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Stick with your original 6.0L plan.

The 6.0 should be right up there power wise with the 383. I have the 6.0 in my SS and it's either that or a big block for me.

This is a bad site for an unbiased opinion. LT1 is a good motor... A good, yet dated motor. The 6.0L is a better motor if you ask me, or most anyone else on this site (except ducky it seems). But again we are kind of biased this is LS1truck.com not LT1Truck.com

Also, I've seen a couple LT1's that have an issue with deep water due to the location/design of the distributer on the newer style LT's. Sence you are a Z71 possibly an offroad guy this may concern you. However because the made this motor for like 40 years it may not lol.
2004 Chevy/Regency RST, 6.0L LQ4, custom built NV MG-5 tranny by local Tranny Guru, Hurst Shifter, K&N FIPK, stock Regnecy Exhaust, 3.73 gears w/ Eaton Locker, and the Magnacharger huffer topping it off w/ stock pulley... for now

Looking to meet people w/ LS1 trucks in the OKC area PM me
