Thread: My swap.

The only acc. that you can use from the 4.3 is the power steering pump and alt.

As for as the tranny a level 4 will do!

Would it be overkill to get the FLT 65e for a cammed/boltons/tuned 5.3 with an LSD and gears? Im planning on going turboed in the later part of the year.

I would think an FLT would be overkill for just NA, but if you are going boosted, then it would be a good idea. Depends on your timing of installing everything.

you can never go overkill on the transmission IMO. its better to spend a little more now than to spend it all over again later. im going with the level 5 whenever mine pops again.

old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

Well I think hopefully before summer or in the beginning I am going to have the money for all the parts I need for the swap; and I was "planning" on being boosted by the end of next year.

I wonder if I should just look at a shift kit until I get closer to going boosted, and then do the FLT. I already have the 1-2 vette servo, would a 3-4 servo be recommend along with a shift kit? I have right at 80k on the transmission, and no problems so far. (knock on wood)

just call jerry's transmission and ull get a good deal from a local guy. nothing against flt, just think Jerry would be better since he's local and can tell you exactly what u'd need.

Thanks for the input on transmissions, but I'm just gonna stick with FLT. Judging from what has been said about him, I am sure he is a great transmission builder that offers reasonable deals, but it just isnt the route I am looking to go down.

Come look at the TWO transmissions I have waiting to get shipped to FLT as cores in exchange for a Level 4. Oh yeah... I have an N/A cammed/stalled/tuned (very mildly) 5.3L powertrain. Stock transmissions will not, I repeat, WILL NOT hold up to punishment forever. When it's time, it'll break. Have friends that have gone through 2 - 5 rebuilds with cammed 5.3s and 6.0s.

I have access to a cammed 6.0, FLT drivetrain RCSB (Z71). After loads and LOADS of 4wd burnouts, the dang Level 5 just won't break... though it's broken a few G80s & ripped apart stock gears. I was a believer in stock components til my second one bit the dust. Gonna fix this the right way now... FLT it is!

What size cam are you running and why is your truck tuned mildly? Were you looking for more of a daily driver? Do you have an LSD in the rear?

I was just basing my input on the cash situation.

If you got it, then do it.
