    Thumbs up

    Hi dudes,

Just hit the 3100km mark on my rebuild engine. So far I did 3 oil changes with snake oil and GM filters.

Now I want to ditch the snake oil, thinking that by now the engine will be fully break-in.

Read somewhere that u should not put synthetic oil to a rebuild engine.

Also as my tunes improve I wanna install my ZEX nitrous system.

Do you think the mileage is good for the change of oil?

I'm planing on using 15W50, any sugestions on that part?

    Thanks in advance

i heard that synthetic oil will make tiny leaks more evident...guess it just makes it into smaller cracks and crevices. maybe thats why they dont recomend it on a rebuilt motor? i wouldnt wory about it. 10w30 is what i use too.

They throw Mobil1 into the brand new Vette engines.... That is before break in

My understanding is after an engine has a ton of miles it will only make the leaks show faster as TXsilverado said.

Do a search for a website called the Oil Bible, impartial commentary comparing the oils and the problems with them.....

I myself would go another 3000km on the conventional oil. Allowing good ring seating. Like a couple others have eluded to. 5W-30 or 0W-30 depending on the temperature in your part of the world.

Full synthetics are the only way to go in a performance engine.

I do have a small leak in the oil pan gasket, could not find here a new one, and thought the old will resist. Wrong. Actually it do not hit the floor, but you can see a small area of the oil pan wet!!!!!!

Do a search for a website called the Oil Bible[/b]
Just gonna lok for it, thanks a lot for the tip

That's my concern exactly, ring seating!!!! So you think I'll should go for snake 3000km....I'll do it, even that I drove it hard past the 1500km mark, there is no damage to go 3000km more.
We have a 22-37 celcius average(71-98 F) temperature, so I guees going below 10 make no sense. And the market here does not have that many options. there's 0w45 and 15w50 in Mob1, Penzoil have it too but diferent rates, and I don't like penzoil, I love Kendall when I was young, but they don't import any more

Synthetic is graded the same as traditional oils, viscosity is supposed to be greater then or equal to the same grade petroleum oil. So I can't see how it would show cracks/leaks any better. I could be wrong though. I have used Mobil1 the life of my truck and after 150,000 miles on the truck it has yet to use a single drop of oil. I also do not have a block heater in the truck and the engine has never even so much as lagged when starting. Even when it hit -29 Celcius. Another I have also run Royal Purple in another of my vehicles and have been everything but dissapointed as well. I'll be even happier if they sponsor my stock car next year lol.

There are a lot of new cars that come with synthetic now.
That which does not kill usually hurts a lot!
