Austin, Tx 10pm, Friday night. I have my wife with me and we are returning from our company Christmas party driving south in the left hand lane on 360. A man and a woman in a late model Porche Cabriolet pulled up behind us at a red light.

I took off briskly when the light turned green and moved into the right hand lane and came to the next stop light. ( the one just before the south/right turn onto Mopac) They are in the left lane and we are in the right lane. When the light turns green I hear his tires peel and I hit the gas. I beat him to 70 and the right turn onto the feeder to get onto Mopac with them right behind me. Then I stomped it again after the corner from approximately 50 back to 80+ and he could not get beside me, much less in front. With a smirk on my face and a slap from my wife and a scalding being told I was childish, I merged onto Mopac south. The Porche and the two people, got on behind us and exited the next exit.

I didn't run away from him, but I was really impressed that I beat him off the line, and he did not catch up any on me all the way to the top of 2nd gear (75mph)

this was not a turbo, but still a porche 911 Cabriolet. BTW, I am smart enough to know that hitting 3rd gear would have been a different story with him being the victor, not me.
