Dynatech headers will bolt on IF you get the high flow cats with. Look Here and you will see they bolt up where a cat back system bolts up to. No Welding..........

anything is better than stock manifolds.. and they're cheap.

you can always pawn them off on some newb when you're ready for some dynatechs.

    going back to my post!

dynatechs seem the be the easiest way to get a fully assembled lt, including the custom y-pipe with cats built in. just be ready to pay a hefty price.

Either way you look at it LT's are ten times better than shorty headers. There is no sense in wasting money on shortys only to be unhappy with the performance. Yes LT's are more expensive and are harder to get to work with your exsisting exhaust system but the extra money is worth it knowing that you will actually be able to tell the difference when your done with the install. I know Pacesetters collectors are really long and your stock cats wont fit between the collector and the transmission crossmember so you would have to trim the back of the collector some one the driver side and weld your stock cat in at a bit of an angle to get it to fit. Or you can got buy high flow "performance" cats. I have installed several of these cats and never could tell the difference in power between the stock cat and the "performance" cat. I would use my stock cats until they wear out just to get all the life out of them and then buy some Hi flow stainless cats later or get it retuned for no rear O2 and leave the gutted cat inplace. There is not much sense in buying a cat before you need it.

Dynatech is the best way to get a turn key set of LT's but damn the price. I could buy some pacesetters and a few flanges and two high flow stainless cats and pay someone to have it installed and still come out cheaper than with the dynatech.

Exactly. Sorry but I'm not paying $1400 for headers. BlueCajun is making awesome times with his Pacesetters, so the price increase of the Dynatechs isn't justified in my opinion.

Just a heads-up. Billy tried to order some for me and they said it would be about 2 weeks before they got any in (Texas Speed).

i was actually kidding.. i'd never pay that price myself. i'm going with pacesetters soon enough. i've heard excellent performance gains and about three quarters of the price of dynatechs.

    good luck with your decision!

Any good muffler shop can build you a custom y pipe out of 2 3/4" pipe and make your stock cats work if you have to pass emissions testing. pacesetter ofers a mandrel bent y pipe for their headers unless you have an SS or a VHO. The y pipe is worth the money because you can do the install yourself and then drive it to the muffler shop and get cats welded in which would save a butt load of money versus getting one built that isnt mandrel bent. Thats why im stuck with having to get a y pipe built cause pacesetter doesnt make one for my truck and i dont think they are going to build one

Thanks Badseed. I keep going back and forth. My options as I see it right now are:

1.) Get the Pacesetters and ORY. Get the stock cats welded in before my next inspection (1 year away).

2.) Get a set of the headers from S&S Headers in Arizona. Tri-Y's that supposedly bolt up to the stock Y-pipe (mid-lengths?).

3.) Possibly get a set of Thorley mid-lengths. Still trying to figure out if the ones SCIV is running would fit my truck. Their listed as pre-2001 I think. Plus a little more pricey.

I think I'm leaning back toward the first option. I know the install should be painless, the price is right, and others are having great results (ie: BlueCajun). I guess I'm being anal again and making this harder than it has to be. Oh well, that's what I'm good at.
