    Thumbs down

The other day i took my truck in to get an allignment. They told me and showed me that my inner parts of my tie rod is worn. It is makeing a knocking sound. I purchased the new parts that day but have not put them on yet. My question is what is the risk of running on worn tie rods?

will put extra wear on your tires. They are very easy to change.

My truck was making a knocking sound also and my buddy here at home is the service manager for the chevrolet dealer and he told me to bring my truck in and they would lube the joint in my steering shaft. He told me that was a common problem with the chevy trucks.Get a second opinion if you haven't. Turn your tires straight. Jack up the front and wiggle each tire back and forth. If it is your tie rod you will feel slack and loosness. Remmember to wiggle your tires from side to side. You may have to apply good pressure when wiggling them. A bad tie rod end ussualy won't make a knocking noise it would just cause you to have a little slack in the wheel. But if the mechanic really showed you it was the tierod they're not very hard to change.

I had to put a new inner tie rod end on my SS at 50k. There was a slight bumping in the steering when you hit a bump. I also found out when I took it in for an alignment after lowering it. Later

yeah they showed me it when they had it jacked up. When you wiggle to tire it makes a knocking noise. I have already purchased them and they costs me $37 a piece for both inners. I will be replacing them in the morning.
