Check out this car. It's supposed to be the world's fastest production car. I think it says it's made in Italy, but check out the motor, it looks oddly familiar to me. When did they start making SBC's in Italy? HA!

Yeah it really does. There are some minor differences though. I just have trouble believing the 1.67 0-60. Plus how can they claim it's Italian or whatever when it clearly has a SBC? and how can they claim it is a production car when they are using someone elses engine?

That site seamed very vague on the specifics. I think the company didn't give them all the facts. I do agree that looks like a SBC 383 (6.0L). I'm not saying it isn't possible, but a 1.67 0-60 is quite unbeliveable.

Just cause it uses someone elses engine doesnt make it a production car. Just like ford used Mazda engines in the escort. You dont have to make your own engine to produce your own car. They just cut the R&D and development work on the powertrain buy using an existing one. I could make a production car using nothing but parts from different auto manufacturers if i wanted. Kind of like how back in the day Jeep had a Ford distributor and a GM Ignition switch.

I think that NHRA says that you have to build 500 of the same car for it to be considered production. Thats how a few years John Force made Mustangs more aerodynamic than the camaro, which we all know is total bull shit. Just because Ford made like 500 special mustangs with a lower roofline and a narrower roof and a more aerodynamic front bumper for i think Roush or Steeda or someone a few years back. Therefore he got to use the better mustang body that still wasnt as aerodynamic as the camaro to base the changes made to his race car.

That 0-60 seems more like a 60ft time at a drag strip. I find that figure as a 60ft time way more believable. As long as you have good downforce and a smooth road you can go as fast as you want ie. Salt Flats. A bunch of those cars go over 250mph. Streetable is a very vague term to define because it is based on opinion. I dont like how the magazines use streetable as a way to describe a car.

Yeah but Ford owns Mazda, same as GM owns Isuzu. They have the right to put those engines in their vehicles. I wonder if Barabus has rights to put a SBC engine in a vehicle and call it their production car. Although there are a lot of aftermarket companies that make SBC heads and blocks and such so I guess that's how they get around it. Still, it's just funny to me to see an Italian sports car with a SBC in it.
