Not a safety feature! A turbo can handle 0 pressure on the seals but must have a constant flow of oil. If it were front mounted, the flow would be gravity feed back into the engine. Since we are rear mounted there must be a pump to return the oil to the engine or else it would pool up inside the turbo and spit out everywhere.

SOUNDS LIKE WHAT HAPPENED. I WONDER IF THE O2 SENSOR IS SALVAGABLE? CAN I CLEAN IT WHEN I CLEAN THE TRUCK TODAY? NON STATIC CLEANER LIKE BRAKE CLEANER OR ELECTICAL CLEANER?
ALSO DO YOU THINK OIL GOT INTO THE INTAKE SIDE OF THE TURBO?
