This is heartbreaking to read, and I think a lot of people here feel the same mix of anger and respect you’re expressing. Chris Kyle served his country, helped fellow veterans, and deserves to be honored with dignity, not turned into a spectacle. No matter how provocative Westboro tries to be, the strongest response is unity and calm. A peaceful presence that shows respect for his family, friends, and fellow service members sends a much louder message than confrontation ever could. If people in Texas and nearby states can attend, simply showing up quietly, standing together, and supporting one another is powerful. Lawful counter-protests, flags, silence, and solidarity keep the focus where it belongs, on remembering a fallen hero and supporting those grieving. Letting things escalate only plays into the hands of people who thrive on outrage. I also hope local authorities are prepared to keep things orderly and safe for everyone involved. Moments like this remind me that respect and discipline matter, values many veterans live by every day. In a strange way, it’s like watching Scenic Trains pass through difficult landscapes, steady, controlled, and purposeful, even when the surroundings are rough. Honor, respect, and peace should lead the way here.
