Once you have the engine, half the battle is over. The rest of the parts are chump change. Just buy a part here and a part there. Before long you'll have everything you need to put it together. As for the shaved handles, the only regret I have is not buying strong enough solenoids or having a weak battery or too small of wire powering it.
I am going to install bicycle brake/shifter cables to pull the latch with should the battery ever go dead. You can always cut the filler panel back out with a grinder, just go slow and take your time so you don't warp the steel. Finding replacement parts is easy, post over on GMFS and there are lots of guys with all the parts to put it back to stock. Post stuff you don't need anymore for sale to raise some funds. I've been hoarding parts for a very long time and have started selling off a lot of things to pay for additional mods. If you're going to swap the V6 out, post it up for sale as soon as you start the conversion or if you have something else you can drive for a short while, post the V6 up for sale to help raise some money for the conversion.
