Well the problem with using my 95 60e is that although it is the first year of pwm, it still had a 12 pin plug simply with an extra wire for the pwm. The ls computer cannot control this aspect and will burn up the trans in just a couple miles of driving. After a little consideration I am leaning towards picking up a 2001 Denali 4l60e that I found and running it as-is for tuning and things initially. All this would be out of complete simplicity and allow me to stay somewhat on budget for my engine build.
Afterwords, once the swap is complete, I will either build the 60e or make the swap to an 80e. Whatever seems to be the better option at the time. And I have been informed I can use my current floor shift tcase with the 2001 tranny no problem. I am completely lost on transmissions. I have spent, and currently am spending too much time trying to read and learn them, but as far as I'm concerned, they are metal boxes with magic inside. I couldn't look at one and tell you what a single piece of it was.

The main reasons I am contemplating a 60e vs going straight to an 80e is that I do not plan on any nitrous or boost. And I also will never tow anything. I currently have another dd and I don't foresee making many long road trips in this truck. Just strictly a redlight warrior, weekend cruiser, and occasional track day when I'm free. Just a simple 400whp truck.
