Thread: has anyone tried this yet?

    has anyone tried this yet?

I've been wanting to do a 5.3 or 6.0 swap but I've been thinking why not just take all of the electronics, tank, fuel pump and everything out of the donor truck and just swap all the new into the old, has it been done that way? Also I've seen one person I forget His name but he swapped the NBS gauge cluster into his obs dash, wondering what had to be done to accomplish that

    Ya, go for it.
Either way you will end up with all the components required for that drivetrain.
Easier to get all the engine and Trans stuff at one time.
Some of the new stuff doesn't fit well in the older trucks that's why most use what works best.
    Like a hybrid lol

I've got the motor, its a 2wd donor and I want to use my 5 speed anyway, I can pretty much have what ever I want out of the donor, hoping to get into this swap sometime this spring or summer

I've heard of the gauge swap but haven't yet read anything on it. As far as the tank goes, I'd stick with your original tank and just swap the fuel pumps and save yourself a lot of fitment issues. There are quite a few things that are compatible but from my experience its been much easier to stick with what came with the truck originally. And another lesson I learned is, don't swap your dd which I had to find out the hard way. It took a lot longer than I expected, because waiting on shipping kept me looking out the window for the guy in the big brown truck
