Just so we are clear.... what makes you want to use a 6speed? They don't have anyway really of beefing them up at this point. The 6L80e requires a sperate TCM. They can't hold big big power as evidenced by just about anyone with more than 700hp. (Chevrolade and silver sleeper both proved that) It is a good transmission that isn't worth the extra cost and effort. I would rather do a TH400 and GV every time. Giving you basically a solid mechanical controlled setup that is DD/highway friendly.

The TCM is in the transmission already. Get yourself a compatible PCM so they can communicate with each other.

6l80 is a badass trans and if i was ever building a fun toy again it would have a 6l80 in it some how. My daily is on 35s and makes 540/554 to wheels for last 3000 miles and ive towed in this form. trans hasnt missed a beat yet

exactly I am a gm tech at a gm dealership at first we had some small issues but now we almost never work on these transmissions
we see all kinds of mods in the 4x4 trucks and in the Camaros with no trans issues
and with the right tune this thing is a real beast

With 550whp ^^ should be no problem , they can take a beating but it's all in the tune...custom harness will be needed as mentioned. Good luck

With the RIGHT tuner the 6L80E can take the power I swear I ran a stock 6L80E for 2.5yrs in my Denali pushing 600-800rwhp and no problems what so ever. Some burn it making 450ish. Pick your tuner wisely. Billy Ray Motorsports actually has a few 1500rwhp rated 6L80Es he's running it in the fastest 5th gen in the Texas Mile.
