    I was advised to use a cable from a 1998 silverado on my 1990 and it worked great!

    The 98 cable is longer and it will fit like it should.

    What about the bracket? does anybody know if they make an aftermarket bracket? or should I get one out of a certain year?

    The regular ol cable 5.3/6.0 cable bracket that goes on the intake will work, and as the others said, a vortec 305/350 cable.
