To cat or not to cat, that is the ?

I am trying to cobble together parts for my exhaust, and I need to transition from 3" downpipes to 2.5". I was planning on running a pair of thunderbolt 2.5" cats, but am having 2nd thoughts.

Would love your experiences both with and without cats.

I'd say if you don't have to run them then don't.

I have no inspections, but I do like to be clean. I am only reconsidering cuz it may complicate the install. Any inputs on how well the LSx responds either with or without cats?

Well I've had several f bodies, vettes and gto's as well as my now swapped truck. I've gone cat less on every one of them. They respond very well to a free exhaust. There will be the few that say cats don't cause any loss in power and maybe they are right but, it's easier to get the power with a free flowing exhaust. This is going to turn into a big debate

No cats here. If you don't need em then no reason to have them. JMO.

I wouldn't mind using cats on our GMT400 build. The thunderbolt cats are as cheap as they come but they did hold up decently on previous vehicles. We don't have emissions testing here but I don't mind sacrificing a few hp so that I can throttle past a tree hugging hippie and not feel guilty.
