    Heads/cam lq4 vs stock ls2

Ok guys I've been off here quite a while and on the tbss forum. I have the opportunity to install a lq4 with patriot stage 2 317 heads and a custom cam for my nitrous setup on my TBSS. Guys on the tbss site seem to be pretty partial to sayin the 1.5:1 compression difference I will actually be losing power if I swap the lq4 in. I just don't see how a heads cam lq4 will have less than a stock 400 hp ls2.
Guys, chime in and let me know what you think

Just add more nitrous, that should give you all the power you want. I don't think there will be that much difference. More compression is harder to tune for nitrous.

I would hate to lose that much compression. If you have the money I think I would cam the ls2.

I'm rly starting to lean towards cramming the ls2

you have a 6.0 and a better one at that, the whole setup of the LS2 will out perform a lq4 with 317s any day, compression is what you want dont desend from it lq4 is what 9.4-5 and youre at 10.1, mill the heads even get alittle work done, it wouldn't take you much to come real close to 450-500 and still beable to throw alittle 200 hit of nitrous on top of it

The LS2 is 10.9:1 compression ratio. I would think a pre detonation with nitrous would be hell on that setup.

I am soooo confused.... Why not just cam the ls2? The heads won't be much of an upgrade over the stock LS2 243s what maybe 25hp? Cam/heads lq4 might make an extra 30-50hp, but you gain 93lbs swapping to an iron block. Also you will lose power under 4000rpm where the extra compression really shines. Also your not the first person to do nitrous on a LS2 I don't see why bumping the shot a bit will matter that much.

    Yeah, just h/c your LS2...!?
You already have the slightly better rods (depending on year of lq4), the flat top pistons, and lighter weight (although I've never heard it was 93#...), and heads with a smaller cc you can send off as cores to get worked and end up better than those patriots.

Yeah I thought it was 50 lbs but maybe that's just the ls1.

It's 93 lbs as the iron block weighs 180 lbs and the alum block weighs 87. it's in the September '04 issue of CHP on page 123.
