Do whatever your budget allows.... Better flowing intake system will help yes. TU or isky cams are a good way to go. You need to do some searching. There's dozens and dozens of builds like yours on this forum alone.

Slowest in Oklahoma...
Yea I knw its a commin build thats why im headed that direction just alot of modification work compared to my lil sbc carbed eng.
im going to be running a gt 45, 76mm turbo with a 1.15 A/R on my lm7. i have heads, tr 220 cam, walbro 400 fuel pump with the hot wire kit, 80lb injectors, and a 4l80e with a multi disk. my builds not super crazy, but should get the job done. i think ull have fun especally since ur alot lighter than me. id deff get a cam speced if you plan on getting one, if you do heads you might as well to the Tbss intake swap as well.

Fast intake is a no no for boost. The TBSS is possibly the best budget intake around. The high rise in my opinion is most effective for all out builds.

I hear that the high rise just looks so dam good on ls motors just haven't heard much on them and im trying to build a bad street ride plus I want it to look as clean as possible too

x 2 on the tbss intake tho alot of guys run them. i would be but i got hooked up with a manifoild with the dude who did my heads. but sounds like your builds going to be alot like mine. ull want a new tranny, rear end, and a good stall to go with it all. if you were to build like my truck " same motor and turbo set up" ur looking at 13k or so for it to be done on a budget. thats with heads, cam, fuel, tranny, converter, rear end, turbo set up, and gauges.
heres my bill
cam- $900
tune- $400
heads- $800
turbo kit- $4700
gauges- $ 850
tranny- $ 1100
stall-$1100
rear end- 1200
fuel- $750
and im sure $1000 spend on mic, and stupid crap.

Can back you up on the pricing there my friend. Spent 12K on mine. ~520Hp and 630ft*lb on 13.5psi T72 turbo. Had 130000km on the engine-looked good but blew a hole in piston 7 on the dyno on the last pull. So now going to a 5.3 bored to 5.7 with forged pistons and crank with 243 heads for more boost and reliability.
Stk rear end though![]()
Back Alley Motorsports 98 GMC
-5.3l LM7 bored to 5.7l Thompson Motorsports -72mm T4 Magnum Turbo
-TU1 Custom Grind cam(spec speed.inc) -799 heads
-.660" Trick Flow dual valve springs -Forged Probe Pistons 3.902" flat top
ya'll should have just pushed 25psi thru a stock 4.8L and make 1200hp all day.
