For the money you spend on a 5.3 and doing the swap you can make more power than you will need with the 4.8

Biggest question is. How much are you budgeting that it'll take you swap in a 5.3, and have it running down the highway reliably?

I tow a car hauler with a tune only 5.3 ex cab. My buddy has a bone stock 4.8 ex cab too. Can we drag em 90mph no. But they do fine as long as your realistic about expectations....

I was born an ass and proud of it.! I was new, yes, but I didn't ask many questions. Go big or go home. I agree totally with pl4yboy, if you wanna tow by a dirtymax.

alright, you dont learn if you dont ask, thats why im asking and going to keep on asking, you can get pissed at me but i want to learn from ya, so just get mad..lol..obviously i cant afford a duramax or even another truck right now. The most i really tow is this boat and it and the trailer weighs around 3100 pounds. On completely flat land the 4.8 is ok but the LEAST little incline and it has to scream its ass off to get up it and still loses speed..i thought maybe the 5.3, being bigger, and longer stroke, would pull that load easier, but i was wrong, but glad i asked or i wouldnt know!
