well, at a little over 68,000 miles, my trans finally let go. i lost 3rd and 4th gears. took it down to the trans shop and am going to have it rebuilt with the good stuff. also am going to a 3200 stall converter instead of the 2800. i'll keep posted how much it sets me back and how it performs when done.

These 60E's straight up suck, my tahoe lost reverse at 28K (under warr.) then puked about 50K, i'm on my second one with the tahoe.

The 3200 is going to be awesome, you'll like it, it's very streetable and really only noticable when you floor it, or maybe an aggressive run.

    What converter you going with?
What kind of parts are you installing in the trans?

Don't forget the B&M trans cooler.

Heat is the biggest enemy on a trans. I'd invest in a cooler as it is cheap insurance for them.

Yeah my S-10's dropped out at 65k. The shift valve thingy (did I mention that I am a red neck mechanic with no clue about what things are called?) got cocked in the bore cuz of heat warping it. So the TC didn't lock up, turned the TC blue, melted anything that wasn't metal, and disintegrated the coating on my sun gears. The fluid in the pan when they dropped it was pure black sludge. Anywho, they built the puppy up good and did some serious tweaking on it to keep it alive for a long time to come!

.......and then I go and blow the engine.

this is what happened to mine

this waht happened to my trans after having a friend rebuild it and then telling me it was a performance transmission. AKA...Bullitproof.... what a joke!

this is the sun shell its not suppost to have the gear in the middle, suppost to slide right off. but the are welded together cant get them apart

you cant tell but inside the small hole there used to be gears. nomore because they have all been strip.

yeah this is the sprang, the springs are not suppost to fall out. but when he went to pick it up it just fell apart

this is the output shaft, or part of it. completely sheared in two.

    here is the other piece

these are the burnt up shims for the clutch packs the clutches are totally gone also.

well there was more damage but you couldnt tell what it was, just a big pile of crap that didnt resemble any thing. Should be getting the truck back tomrrow, hope is everything the guy says it will be. if it is ill be in truck heaven
