That's actually not a stupid question. Go on pt.net and they have a very interesting post about psi vs turbo size. Worth the read

A turbo is like a fingerprint, no 2x are the same. Hence the different results each will yield

I've read a lot about turboing engines, it seems more about cfm than psi, am I right?

You are definitely on the right track about that, but it must be a perfect blend of both CFM/PSI. You can't just go and cram 35psi down your motors throat without the CFM to back it up. You can't have one without the other

Is cfm constant or does it vary any on a turbo?

Varies, like I mentioned before about being like a fingerprint, every turbo is different. Even twin turbo setups have very slight differences between each turbo, but they are a different story to talk about for another day

Read as much info as possible and ask as many ???????'s as possible. And definitely read post where people have made mistakes and blown things up, so you can avoid the same mistake's that they made.
