A guy came by the shop a few weeks ago trying to sell a 550 round box of 22 long rifle bullets for 75 bucks. I got to talking with him and he said that him and his friends are at gander mountain and academy sports when the truck comes in with the ammo. They buy all of it then mark it up and ride around to all the local shops and businesses and sell it. I politely explained to him how he was part of the reason why the ammo prices are thru the roof then I not so politely told him to leave. Makes me pissed just thinking about it.

if they can't control the guns, they will control the ammo. i bought a new 15-22 from a local store and they would only sell me 100 .22 rounds at a time. WTF???

As annoying as that kind of behavior is, not to mention somewhat illegal, it is pretty smart and I like to see people trying to make a dollar instead of sitting on their asses. It's not really any different then if you owned a shop selling ammo. I am a salesman/businessman thru and thru so that is probably why I can appreciate what they are doing. As mentioned by others the government is the biggest cause for the sky high prices.

It might be smart... but I have no respect for the people who do this. It is no where close to being like a store that sells ammunition. Stores buy what they can and sell at a competitive price with other stores and in no way really create a demand. Individuals who are doing this are creating a high demand by taking 100% of the supply off the shelves. You might be making a dollar but you are putting your fellow man through hell to get it.

Do you know what my number one concern with this is? There are kids out there that want nothing more than to go plink with a .22 and their fathers cannot get the ammo to make it happen. I don't know what things are like where you are from, but where I'm from kids going out and plinking is part of growing up. Squirrel and rabbit hunting are a part of life for kids here. I hate that this generation is going to miss out on some of the greatest moments in their lives.

Like I said. I have zero respect for these people and just as little respect for someone who thinks what they are doing is okay.

Well put playboy! My finances were really tight during hunting season this year and I couldn't justify paying 25 bucks for 50 rounds of ammo to kill a few squirrels when I could reload 25 rounds of 30-06 cheaper and fill my freezer full of deer.

5550 rounds of .22, $224 bucks. As of yesterday. No shortages here. Your shortage is purely artificial.

Haven't even seen 223/556, 22lr, 9, or 40 in Buffalo in months, except at a buck a round, no thanks.
