I went with a carb for several reasons, the main one being cost. The truck has dual tanks, and I didn't want to swap out the entire system for the baffled '87 tanks, 2 electric fuel pumps, and splitter valve, when everything I had already worked fine.

Very good write up on your conversion Nick. I tried to use my wrecked cars exhaust manifold, and they are the same as the GTO. Didnt fit as you also found out.
I used the original clam shell cups, and made up my own flat plates. While they work, they restrict exhaust header clearance some.

Thank you! I just updated it with the fuel system. I'm mostly either waiting for parts to arrive, or trying to source junkyard parts (crossmember, fan shroud, etc) at this point.
Are you going to use the 2 fuel tanks? I have 2 as well, but only one fitted at the moment. I am running an in tank pump assembly in my original tank, and am thinking I may just run a standard fuel pump to pump from the 2nd tank to the main one when needed.
Its not so easy, and cheap to get hold of parts like you blokes can, so we have to make do with what we have. I would like to eventually fit a big fuel tank behind the diff, between the chassis rails, and do away with the 2 originals.(similar to Blazer)

Yes, I am keeping the dual tanks. I mounted the pump in front of the selector valve so it'll draw from whichever tank is selected.
