Just replaced my fuel pump sending unit and pump for my '94 1500 4X4 with '99 6.0 engine. I got a used sending unit from a later model Chevy Pickup truck with the Vortec type small block. Anything from '96 to '99 should get you close. Those are the years after the TBI engines that used the Vortec type multiport fuel injection. Not to be confused with the LS type engine also called the Vortec. I bought a brand new Delphi fuel pump on E bay. Part number is FE0114. It was a direct replacement for the original pump. The original pump would have worked but I wasn't going to chance it.
As for the driveability, the engine actually starts faster than it did with the original pump from the 99 Silverado I got the 6.0 from. I couldn't be more pleased. A working gas guage and instant starts. It's a win/win situation.

A standard Vortec injected 305/350 fuel pump and sender from a 95- to 98 is all you need. When they updated to the Vortec injection in '95, it was a multiport fuel injection system requiring a higher fuel pressure. The LS engines also use this same high pressure system to run.

It also required changing a couple wires at the pump but it was not complicated. Your original fuel pump relay can also be used but must get it's acuating power from the new PCM.

It looks like the sending unit resistance is different between the tbi and vortec models also. 0-92ohms for the tbi and 40-250ohms for the gen 2 vortec.
