Can't this be done with a Tech II? Just curious b/c I need VATS turned off.

Wish Allen was close by to re-flash my PCM from a 2001 VIN to a 2000 VIN. My PCM was probably tuned with EFILive, and I know some buddies of mine who have HPTuners. The guy I bought my PCM from is hardly ever able to be reached. With a 2000 VIN, I've got access to HPT for logging & tuning.

Anyone nearby that can do this today (probably not likely)???

You dont wanna do that. The 01 pcms are much much better and you would have to flash the 00 operating system on to get the 00 VIN. Do you have HPT or are you using it through a friend? It's only $100 to get a single vehicle license if you have the usb interface. I would recommend doing that for the 01 pcm.

Well... a buddy of mine has HPT, and told me to get it flashed to his '00 VIN so he could tune it. The issue I have is that the guy I paid $250 for the PCM and tune is too difficult to get a hold of when needed. He tuned it with EFI Live. My problem is I made a bad decision on buying from him. I understand his personal situation (got family & all just like me), but he's got too much "side-job" business, along with his regular job, that he can handle by himself. This makes him hard to get in touch with. It sucks cuz the tune that's on it was the same tune (already dialed in) that ran in his '01 RCSB (12.59s in 1320ft). Since I paid for that already, I didn't want to loose data.

I'm frustrated, and would hate to spend DOUBLE to get someone else to work with me. The litlle things are getting me so frustrated. Gotta vent! Ya'll understand.

Can't your buddy with HPT save your data file so you can use it later? Or is there a compatibiltiy issue between EFI live and HPT? Or what about one of your local Texas tuning shops? Someone should be able to pull your current file so when you get everything resolved you'll have it as a backup. If I read your previous posts correctly, all your current PCM needs is the VATS removed correct? I believe there is a hardware solution also if you want a quick fix... This guy might have something that could work... (disclaimer: I have NO tuning experience)

    Well...

Hurdle #1 - my buddy with HPT cannot edit a 2001 setup. He only has a license for 2000 Silverados.
Hurdle #2 - if the guy who sold me the PCM has NOT locked the tune to his serial # for EFILive, HPT users with a 2001 license can read/write to PCM
Hurdle #3 - don't know what to do... buy HPT w/ 2001 license, or EFILive w/ 2001 license... or fork over extra dough to get someone else to start from scratch.

    See where I'm coming from?

As for the VATS bypass module, I was looking at that, but wasn't sure if that'll work. Someone mentioned to me that the BCM is required for that. I cannot see why, but hey...

Cheapest solution will be the 01 license, if he has usb and can do the single license. Other than that I would want someone to start from scratch, that might be the best way to go at it. But if your going ot pay someone, why not just spring for HPT and learn to tune it yourself?

Whats exactly is the problem with security? Have you posted on tech to see if someone in your area has support and willing to help? I have support for 99+ but Baton Rouge is quit the drive to Central FL, unless you can be down for a few days and mail.

I'm good to go now... VATS was still enabled.

The guy that sold me the PCM ran 12.59 with the exact same bolt-ons as I have. I bought a PCM with his tune dialed in. I'll use that as my baseline, and tweak from there b/c a lil birdie told me that I have a magic motor.

I went to Futral yesterday, knowing the guy didn't remember what year VIN was set. Lucky me... it was the '00 model Sierra/Silverado. The license I have access to is '00. Finally, the chips are starting to fall in my favor!
