    Electrical bugs

OK, my 05 GMC is starting to get some wierd electrical bugs. It's nothing too serious now, but I'm afraid it's going to. Today, the rearview mirror, which has the compass, temp, auto dim, and passenger airbag on/off indicator would go dead. It's rained all day, and only the airbag indicator would blink when the wipers would reach the top, just before going back down. I could shut it off, and back on, and everything would come back on and work, but the next time I got in, it would mess up again.

There's also been some wierd noises coming out of the dash the past few months. It's like clicking and bumping noises. It only does it when the truck is running.

Any help or advice would be great.

+1 but don't rule out a bad positive connection, start at the battery and work your way thru.

I've heard that a low battery can cause odd issues like this. Can anyone confirm this? My charging system seems to work fine, but I've noticed the lights dimming when any load is applied, even as much as turning up the radio.

Start with a multimeter across battery terminals. Idle should be 12.5-13, and around 3K RPM should be well over 13 volts, up to 14.5'ish.

Check for rodent damage on harness too. But sounds like either bad ground or corrosion on connections

+1 on the rodent damage, seen that before. Squirrels are notorious for it around our area.
