    Dumb question

Why does everyone say when you do a 4.8 to 6.0 swap it will eat up a 4l60e tranny. What's the diff in building a stout 5.3 with the same power and torque as the 6.0 the 4l60e tranny will be fine?

There is no difference. The point is, the 60e is garbage.

They were based on a transmission designed for a 165 hp late seventies V6,they should have stayed in the seventies with those cars.

Most truck enthusiasts modify their trucks beyond the capabilities the 4L60e can handle. Eventually, the trans will give out, sometimes multiple times before the owner is forced to find something else. Being that the 80e is the next logical choice, everyone takes that route.
As far as anyone saying that; it just depends on how far you take the 6.0L. To ensure the 60e will hold up, install a shiftkit/servo. This is recommended even for the 4.8L.
