For a 1996 truck, all you need to do is make the new engine a stand-alone install, wiring wise. Its pretty straight forward. You can easily hook the few wires from the stand-alone into the existing '96 power center(fuse block). All you need is the C-100 connectors pin-outs/wire colors. The C-100 connector is the black plastic port(group of wires) that exit the firewall in front of the driver, in the engine compartment.
