Thread: KILLED AN SS...

    Going to work the other day, after pulling onto the back road and in my own little world jammin' to XM, I look in the mirror to check my six cause I join this road on a blind curve and I notice a certain little black Cobalt SS Supercharged pulled out too and is on my ass and it's pulling out to pass. So I nail it at about 40 (my dead zone very bottom of second) and start to accel. and the little SS is starting to slowly pull and stays with me surprizingly almost all the way to the top of second ( about 75-80 ) and then the shift happens ( anybody that's ridden w/ me knows how hard this thing shifts ) and I start to pull HARD to 100 where I let off because of a S-curve and a white Dodge and some other car in front of him are in the way. After the S-curve I punch it again and the little SS follows but backs off a little because of another curve ( long right hand sweeper I usually take about 80 on the way to work when I'm late). So I back off and wait for him to catch up and he follows on my ass for a couple of miles and then slowly passes at about 80mph. We join the main road and I thought he was going to punch it again so I nail it and she downshifts to 1st and scratches second like she always does and I let out at 80 on his ass and on my brakes hard. We are coming up on the river bridge and I look over and this guy on a jet ski has a look on his face like this . I look back up and I notice the little SS is slowly pulling away and I let him go then I notice his taillights flashing and I'm like WTF, he just did a ricer fly-by on my ass !!! Now I'm pissed, he hits the stop sign and pulls off hard then I hit the stop sign and I pull off kinda hard and wait for traffic to pass, I also notice the white Dodge we passed is trying hard to keep up. So I pull within a few trucklengths from him and he speeds up to about 85-90, I wait for another curve and then at 95 I lay the hammer down and I time it so I shift into fourth right as I pass him and I hold it for a little while. Then I see him trying to reel me in so I really lay into it and run her up to 6 grand in 3rd and let her shift into fourth and I have about 10 bus lenghts on him and then I couldn't resist I lay the flashers on him and LAUGH MY ASS OFF !!! I slow down to about 80 and wait for him to catch up and I see the Dodge try to pass him and he puts the Dodge in it's place. He catches up after a couple of miles and passes again and I wave as he passes. Then here comes the Dodge and I let him by. The little SS pulls into a parking lot up the road and I pull in and he rolls his window down and I say to him " Hey, nice runs man..." and him and his passenger were like " Yeah, you too, hey what do you got in there ???" And I said "It's stock !!!" and they were like "Oh yeah, man it runs good..." I pulled off and turned and lit 'em up, fishtailing and almost losing it while laghing at the expressions on their faces...This is the same guy that cut me off in town in the little womans TBSS as I was heading home and I've been waiting to catch him in either one of our vehicles...Zed

    First good race I&#39;ve had out here in the sticks, usually I&#39;m just cruising and nail it only to pass slower drivers...

    Should have rolled down the window as your blowing past the Dodge and scream..."hey, that thing got a hemi.....cause it doesn&#39;t matter&#33;&#33;&#33;

    Those little Cobalts sure like to play, too bad Chevy didn&#39;t decide to really push the limits. Would love to see a 6.0ltr conversion inside one. Talk about suprise?

    I passed the Dodge like it was tied up, only thing he would have made out would have been "Hey..."

    From what I hear those little Ecotecs can put down some serious hp if need be. Hell the same block puts down well over 1000hp in the little Cobalt dragster so they are built tough. They are on low boost in the SS... I remember reading awhile back that GM was suppose to do like Dodge and the SRT-4&#39;s and offer upgrades in stages to boost HP up to about or close to 300 &#33;&#33;&#33; Never heard anything else about it though...
