New tire ruined by a little nail, didn't know it was possible

I picked up a nail in my back tire, so I take it to get it patched and I'm told it's too far to the crown of the tread (the very edge of the tread) to fix. This is a new BF Good wrench G-Force Comp TA that still has the little production (titties) on the tread and side walls. WTF!!!

Definitely possible. A patch won't hold on the crown.

Take it somewhere else for another look. Discount tire did this to me a while back and I knew it wasn't far enough over not to be repairable. Had another shop fix it without any hesitation, nor did they pose any safety concerns. They told me they hear that all the time from people who went to Discount first.

Discount does it for liability issues. Used to work there about 5yrs ago. It can be fixed but i wouldnt do it.
