i'm doing an lq4 swap into a 1997 truck, i've got a gauge cluster from a 2002 truck as well that i am going to put in, a problem i know is that the fuel gauge wont work as the ohms are different in the two trucks. i stopped by advance auto today and checked and they have a fuel level sending unit for like 30 bucks for the 2002 truck, if i pull my old sending unit off and put this one on will it work? i'm sure i will have to change the wiring around or something.
has anyone of you done this?
so according to this if i ground one wire and run the other wire from the fuel level sending unit to Pin 54 on the C2 Connector then the gauge should have the signal it needs to work correct?

Well I'm no expert but you have the same issue I had, the 02' IPC is serial data controlled as Is mine. When I hooked my 00 Camaro LS1 into my 04' Colorado, my gas gauge read backwards. My sending unit was 3 wires. Two hot wires and one ground, I swapped the 2 signal wires and it fixed my problem. I have also heard of people bending the floats to compensate for this, but I would not recommend that.
Serial 2 data wire requires input from BCM, messing with that is a real trick. Hopefully someone more professional will post something, BUMP BUMP!!
Why are you putting a 2002 Cluster in your 97???

What PCM are you going to use? If it is an LS1b PCM---It will run the engine and dash without dual sensors.
