going to LS my 91 gmc but which LS to use?

I have a 91 GMC RCSB that I just put a 4/6 drop in. It has a 700R4 in it. I want to LS swap the truck. What LS to use? Its a street truck used as a truck. hauls a atv sheetrock, mulch etc. I want to swap it cheap. No custom harnesses or dashboards. I dont want to get a pcm tuned everytime I change something. I was thinking a carbed lq4 with a torque biased cam hooked to the 700R4 and 3.73's. Does anyone have any good input here?

cheap? i dont know maybe! im sure all the guys on here wanted it cheap, including myself, but..... lq4 is a excellent motor, cheaper would be a lm7. but the swap/reasearch has already been done for you so its just a matter of finding all the right(or bargain) parts.

For carbed set up you will need the intake $270 is the cheapest i found and the MSD 6LS1 box $280 is the cheapest i found.
Thats about $550 right there, and you still need a carb. I have a $550 Proform carb set up so about $1100 not including my 6.0l motor, cam, headers etc......
But sure looks good!

For what a carb setup and MSD ignition controller will cost you, you can buy a wideband and HPTuners and tune for all of the changes yourself. You'll also get better economy and more power. It is NOT overly difficult to modify a factory harness using the info provided on LT1swap.com. just takes some patience...

Im afraid if i try efi i will loose my patience doing the homework for it and give up on the truck. I have done some research on here and relize you dont save much money going to carb. Ive heard of hptuners and widebands but no about them at all so it makes me gun shy to try it.

Its really not hard. You log the MAF Hz, and ad adjust the fuel trims to zero it out for part throttle, then for full throttle you log the AFR, again, adjust the fuel trims to bring it to your target AFR (say, 12.5:1). Doing the spark tables requires a little more trial and error, but its not that bad.

Think about your options and your budget and look at the big picture. Fuel injection is where you'll get your best milage and performance in my opinion. I'm doing a swap on my 1990 xcsb with a 5.3 and corvette intake and cam. Also a 4-6 drop. I knew nothing about gen 3 motors when I started,especially the wiring, but thanks to this forum I'm learning everything I need to know. I got a nelson harness to make things easier,(cause I know my limitations),so dont give up theres plenty of help from good people out here! Good luck whichever way you go.

My truck will not be a daily, thats why I went with carb.
If you use your truck like you say I would go FI. Just stockpile parts then get them all on at the same time so you don't have to go get it tuned after every upgrade.

it is used as a truck but only on weekends it sits in the lawn 5-6 days a week. I just run my weekend errands and chores with it cause its fun to drive.
