Thread: some notes from a beginner, change rings or change pistons?

    I already have OBX headers on the 5.3 will reuse them of course

    some pics from yestrday, pan is on oil pump is in heads are on







    after we mounted the motor under the hood , and I was cleaning the intake manifold has a hole 2"x3"

    you can see it just behind the throttle on the drivers side

    Did you measure the clearance on the rods? Those mains are super tight..

    I used the wrong plasitgauge , i was supposed to use the GREEN not the red

    i JB welded the the intake manifold for now , will buy somthing better than stock , considering the stock bare manifold is for 258$

    ITS ALIVE
    started the truck yestrday ,it was in a coma for 6 weeks !!

    drives good just dies when slowing down under 12-15mph to turn or stop at a light.

    needs a retune

    as for any thing else i noticed some good torque gains on idle to 3000rpm with part throttle ,cant step on it just yet , breaking in the new bearings/piston rings

    every thing else is great

    will try to post some pics

    sorry for droping this thread, I had so much going on on the same time, getting the motor in te truck, preparing myself and my brother for a trip to Czech Repuplic for pyshical therapy, and having exams too.

    So, im in Czech now , here are the last pics i took of the truck

    please dont trash me on the garage I work in, this was the only place i had availlabe for free.










    only had these pics when i was greasy , i gave my cuz the cam, the lazy basterd only took 4 pics , I KILL HIM:fume:

    well keep updating here. will look on through it especially when the project outcome comes. what would be the looks?

    Im n czech now, cant realy take pics or vids , havet tuned it yet, the A/F ratio is way rich , it hits 9.5:1 to 9:1 on WOT and it smokes like a diesel its running on the 5.3/cam ECM/tune . the 6.0 ECM is set up on 4L80 and no electric fans so cant really use it.

    ill be back in a month or so, ill dyno tune it then hoping to get 390-400 , the 5.3 did 365/368 with this cam
