Well there are a few reasons:
1. It can be used with the stock stall and gears
2. I already had LS6 springs which are perfect for the lift
3. It has a good rpm range for my application
4. It sounds freakin great
5. It works great for carb applications
6. It makes peak HP around 4500 rpm and tq at 6000. I dont want to go over 6000 rpm due to the stock rods and bolts

Got the Harmonic balancer off today, that thing was shot. Going to try to take off the oil pan tonight and maybe paint the block tomorrow.

What makes you think stock rods and bolts will fail at 6000rpm? I shift my truck at 6200 with a completely stock 260k mile bottom end. I know plenty of people pushing past 6000rpm with no issues.

The thumper isnt the best LS cam and if you are looking for lope get a good tune.
