Got the Harmonic balancer off today, that thing was shot. Going to try to take off the oil pan tonight and maybe paint the block tomorrow.
What makes you think stock rods and bolts will fail at 6000rpm? I shift my truck at 6200 with a completely stock 260k mile bottom end. I know plenty of people pushing past 6000rpm with no issues.

I think it can do just fine but why risk it. The two most common reasons an engine fails is from high RPM and detonation. I want this bottom end to last at least a year so I can build an LS1 or 6.0 short block.
The thumper isnt the best LS cam and if you are looking for lope get a good tune.

Most of the people i have heard to complain about the thumpr had it with EFI. I will have it dyno'd when its done and we will see how the cam is.
