What myzterray said. I used a big adjustable wrench. Have it setting straight up an down in the 12 o'clock position, then I used a rubber Mallot and gave her little smack, Like you're hitting the wrench toward the passenger side. Worked like a charm for me several times. I'm sure this is the redneck way, and that's fine by me cause I'm a redneck, but there's tool made specifically for this.
I bought a $15 strap wrench from sears (make sure it's a large one, I grabbed the biggest one they had) to hold the pulley and then used a big crescent wrench. In my experience the belt doesn't always have enough tension to hold the pulley. The one in my 03 wasn't that tight, but in my 00' it took some swearing and beating to get it loose.

the easiest way by far is with the air hammer though, if you have one, or access to one

i used a big adjustable wrench and a pair of vice grips since my motor wasnt in the truck and didnt have a belt on it. i had to use the rubber mallet to break it loose but it wasnt hard to get off. it turns counter clockwise to remove as stated earlier.
Actually, off subject but I can think of some lefthand threads on the truck, can anyone guess where?
