    Iron LS1 first start vid

I gotta try to figure out the valve train noise tomorrow. Gonna make sure the rocker bolts are torqued right. Built oil pressure real quick. At idle it was just above 40 psi.

How long did you let it run? Mine sounded the same after I did my cam and spring swap, but after it idles for a while and warmed up it quieted down.

Ran it maybe 2 mins. Temp didn't even get up. How is everyone tightening their rocker arms? I just torqued them all to 22lbft. Poured oil through the heads. Primed the engine without the fuel pump relay in, 3 times for 10-15 seconds each. Plugged relay back in and turned it over. Oil pressure came within a couple seconds. Idle is slightly higher than I want it (900-1000) but I have a feeling it may go down once the crank and cam sensors get right. It did start to quiet down a little after running for a short time. Any tips on things to check tomorrow besides rocker bolts?

Valve train noise is common after a cam swap. As long as you have good oil pressure i wouldnt worrt about it. .025 longer pushrods may help on an aftermarket cam.

Wouldn't worry about the valve train noise, like stated it's common after a cam swap, especially if you didn't let your lifters soak for a while to prime. It'll go away after you run it for a bit. Last camshaft I changed at work (stock because a lobe was worn) it got quiet after about 5-10 minutes.

All the engines iv built did that for the first few minutes untill the all the lifters pumped up with oil then they never did it again. Did you soak the lifters in oil for 24 hours before you installed them?

I did not soak the lifters. Reason I got rods so short was from milling the heads. Length checker showed 7.35 to be the needed length. Thanks for the input guys. I'm just paranoid that I could have missed something. I've been going over build steps, torque specs and sequences in my head for the past 2 weeks. Trying to remember if I missed something.

Cam is TSP 228r. Drive it about 40 miles today and the lifters are quiet now. There is still a tiny bit of noise, but I'm pulling the covers tomorrow to make sure the rocker bolts are still torqued. Now I'm just tryin to iron out this cooling issue.
    Thanks for the compliments.
