stock truck rails, llike those on an lm7 already have an FPR, so why would you need or want a c5 fuel filter?

just was researching some more on this, i have a single line fuel rail vs the double line fuel rail which is why i bought the corvette filter deal so i could run the return back to the tank. Does this sound right?

Can someone please confirm this for me? I need to get parts ordered but I dont want to order the wrong ones. I was under the impression the with a single inlet fuel rail that the corvette reg/filter would work and could provide the return? I have heard numerous folks doing this but I dont want to order parts if its the wrong way to do it.
