done some major work today! finally got the wiring issue handled. i married the obs harness and the 5.3 harness together to make one big harness. looks a lil messy right now but once i get it started ill put the insulation on. anyone know where to find some good wire insulation??

just need a new starter and airbox and i should be good to go! got some stuff to sell too! ill make a thread in the for sale section as well..

yea i saw that as well. it put the air cleaner iin the same location as the stock one for these trucks. less that $100 is great but i dont think that was for the k&n filter tho. i would like to keep my battery in the stock location im just trying to figure out how to run the cables. any idea on how to do this?? i think positive cable goes to battery starter alternator and fuse block. negative to frame and body? also where are you guys grounding the starter?

You don't want a K&N filter anyways. The oiled filters have a tendency to foul the MAF. Get a cleanable/reusable dry filter.

i swear i have the longest running swap on this site lol. just relocated from southern cali to henderson nv which is right outside vegas. i cn see the strip from my balcony. once good ol uncle sam pays up ill finally have this thing running. its pretty much ready to go i just have to go down to the local stealership to pick up the starter bolts. i turned the key to make sure everything else was good to go and i have a few issues. fuel pump is not coming on nor am i getting a reading on the dash.. neither is the blower for the hvac. any ideas??

Nope you don't need both. I was able to Eliminate my stock pcm. If you search through the lsx conversion threads there's a guy called wayoung or something. He put a 4.8 into a 97 suburban. If you read his thread he tells you how to eliminate the stock pcm. I'll look later and see if I can find my notes from when I did the wiring . It's pretty easy because the wires that went to the stick pcm can be removed and plugged right into your ls pcm.

You don't need to run two PCMs. You also don't need to graft two harnesses. If you are installing a Gen3 DBC engine then you only need to repin your PCM and add about ten wires for the coils. You will need to lengthen your CKP wires and cut the big injector plug off of the original harness and add the 8 individual connectors.
