i did away with evap yrs ago. when doing this you need to vent the tank. my tank has vents already on it that routed to the evap canister. I routed this together then installed a breather onto these up high near the filler neck...4 yrs later no issues

Yes the tank just needs to breathe, or it essentially will be trying to burp up through the filler neck. Which is what is causing the slow filling.

Ok thanks guys. I figured the two little vents on the tank would be enough but I guess not. I drilled a hole in the hat and soldered 1/4'' copper tubing into the hole then put a filter on it and it works just fine! Thanks again for the responses
