    My 4.8 Went 15.2 with just headers
    '02 GMC RCStepSide 4.8 , Thumpr Cam , 3200 Stall , OBX LTs , MSD Wires , TrueTrac , 4.10s , 3/5 Drop , bolt in traction bars by LSX Powersports , EFI Live tune by LSX Powersports

    15.2 @ 90 , 2.3 60' (Only mods at this time , LTs)

    He's right ^^^ 10bolt will hold for awhile.

    I'd be more worried about the Trans than the 10bolt

    From the reading I've been doing I figured the trans was a necessary step on these things. I'm going back and forth on whether to build a 60e or do the 80e swap. My trans shifts fine right now, but the previous owner did quite a bit of towing, so I'm sure it won't be too long until it starts acting up. I don't know how to weld, so what are the options for prefabbed crossmembers? I've read that 99 and 00 trucks are different from 01+.

    Go with the 80e. Don't waste your money on a 60e

    not everyone needs an 80e and in some cases it will slow ya down vs the 60e. If ya under 600 rwhp get a good builder and youll be set.
