From the reading I've been doing I figured the trans was a necessary step on these things. I'm going back and forth on whether to build a 60e or do the 80e swap. My trans shifts fine right now, but the previous owner did quite a bit of towing, so I'm sure it won't be too long until it starts acting up. I don't know how to weld, so what are the options for prefabbed crossmembers? I've read that 99 and 00 trucks are different from 01+.

Go with the 80e. Don't waste your money on a 60e

not everyone needs an 80e and in some cases it will slow ya down vs the 60e. If ya under 600 rwhp get a good builder and youll be set.
