    6.0l with procharger

the truck is a 97 OBS short wheel base with the vortec engine and a procharger. i was thinking i could get a truck ls 6.0 from efienginesupply.com toss in a nice cam, get some brackets for my procharger to bolt to the new 6.0 from the procharger company and just do a complete ls swap. the truck has a 4l60e which was built up to hold the added power of the SC, but i dont really trust it anymore and will be going with a 4l80e since i'm swapping everything else anyways.

also emailed procharger directly and asked them about brackets, here is the response

"The blower will work on the new engine, but it will need to be re-clocked
which runs $268. From there, you'll need a new bracket which runs roughly
$450. See the attached install manuals for reference."

the reclock he mentions... isnt that just loosening the bell on the back and spinning it? i remember i had to do it when i first got it because it was hitting a engine lifting bracket, cant really justify spending 270 bucks if thats all it is lol.

    things i know/need

going with a new camshaft probably from texas speed, they reccommended a
224/228 .581"/.588" Camshaft with 114 lsa (any comments?)
going to need new valve springs, and timing chain
ARP head studs and Rod bolts
    motor mounts
    shoenfeld headers
    DBC throttle body
bracketry from procharger for the p1sc to mount to
level10 rebuild kit for the 4l80e
    walbro pump
    new injectors

    things i dont know

    1. still cant find a source to show how to integrate a newer harness into a 97 truck, i've read it can be done, but i see nowhere that shows how to. and also if everything in the dash works or not. are headlights, blinkers and such all on a seperate system?

    2. on the 5.7 it was reccomended to have a MSD setup to have a stronger spark for the SC, do i really need to buy MSD coil packs and wires for the newer motors? or are they strong enough on their own?

    3. as far as running a/c what do you guys do for making the newer compressor connect to the older lines? custom made or is there a vendor that sells them?

    4. should i upgrade the rockers with roller tipped? or are the factory ones sufficient?

    5. do i need to use corvette filter? i've read about this buy don't really understand why its done, i have a feed and return line, so i shouldn't need to worry about it right?

theres probably more i'm missing and i that i wont find out till i actually start just trying to find out as much as i can and have everything i need to get off to a good start.

what are your guys thoughts and opinions, i've been reading for weeks and found a metric ton of great info here so i look forward to finding some more!

    1) There is a stick on this site in the conversion area that shows the majority of the wiring. You can also make a thread about anything else you are unclear on and we can try to guide you through it.

    2) Guys running 1000 hp are using stock wires and coil packs. They're plenty for 99% of people.

    3) No idea

    4) Factory rockers are fine.

    5) The vette filter is used because it has a built in pressure regulator.

Procharger needs to be clocked due to location change for proper oiling inside the unit.
I run stock rockers, stock coil packs, stock fuel pump (w/MSD voltage booster). Changing to
SW exhaust next week, full length headers, off road, true dual exhaust with a new tune on the dyno.
    Good luck on your build
Stock 6.0, 2500HD extended 4X4, intercooled Procharger, with 11psi, 42# Racetronix injectors, SW, Mainline Dyno'd 403.5 SAE RWHP 5200 !! Not too bad for the tow vehicle getting to the track on time. Thanks to Chris @ Big Power Racing in Bayshore L.I., and also a big Thanks to Lonnie @ Lonnie's Performance in PA for the new fuel system
