thanks man! its a slow steady project. yea i dont think it will be that difficult. im just checking with pitch black because he is very knowledgeable and has helped me out so much during this build. once i get everything working ill will definitely pass the info along.

For the speedo, you will need to use the output from the new PCM. Your 96 gauges need the PCM to translate the VSS signal into a usable signal based on gear ratios and tire size.
The tach will use the output from the PCM as well. The tune can be adjusted to work with the 96 tach which is looking for a 8 cyl output rather than the 4 cyl output the 99-up gagues want to see.
If your harness doesn't have PCM outputs for those 2 things, you will want to add them.

ok cool...any idea what pin that would be from the harness? everything else was right?

    wiring sucks!

so im trying to get this wiring stuff in order but its killing me! im trying to use my original obs fuse box for the starter and fuel pump relays.
heres a pic of the wiring

heres the location of the relays

on my harness i have a relay for the fuel pump already and just a grey wire sticking out. where do i connect it to on the stock fuse box. im guessing i would be bypassing the relay on the fuse box since i have one on the harness. what color wire would the stock fuel pump wire be that i need to connect the grey wire from the harness to???

i should be able to use the original starter wire from the truck. if not what do i do??

i have a connector on my harness labeled "vss" im guessing it plugs into the trans. but on my harness i have a dark green wire that also says vss. so im guessing the connector to the trans gives the pcm the signal and the green one is for the speedo?

    has anyone done this before??

thanks! i wanted to be detailed because i wanted people to use my thread as a guide. the only reason mine is taking so long because i havent been working on it consistently took a month off plus i relocated so i didnt have tons of cash to throw at it. kind of a weekend project for myself im pretty sure if i bought all the parts in advance i could knock this swap out in a few days. also im learning as i go. now that ive done this swap and got it to run. i cant wait to do it again.
