DOD Delete on a 2009 GMC Sierra ECLB

Hello everyone I'm new here, so please excuse my ignorance. I would like to swap out the DOD cam and lifter set up in my 09 Sierra. It has a 5.3 in it, 3.73 gears and a 3" Dynomax cat back exhaust on it.. The main reason I would like to swap it out is because I have seen lots of trucks come in to the dealership that I used to work at with lifter issues. I don't feel that it adds a significant amount of fuel savings anyway.....it barely ever kicks in. From what I have read I need to swap cam, lifters, pushrods, valley cover, and need to get it tuned.

My main questions are....Does my truck have a single bolt cam or a three bolt cam? Does it have VVT? or is VVT only on the 6.2? Can I get a Single bolt cam and reuse my stock timing set?

My truck is a long bed so I need a cam that will be a little more on the torquey side as it is my daily driver.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me.

also need: lifter trays and all the gaskets.

cam is a single bolt, need your 8th digit in the vin to determine if it has vvt. vvt is also in the 6.0L and 5.3L.

I believe thunder racing sells a complete kit.

If nothing else you can get all the PN's from them.

Check with Mast Motorsports, too. They dabble in some of the VVT removal kits.

Mast is super expensive Greg. Or they were when I was looking for my 08. TR sells a kit but also lists part numbers. If you get the part numbers then go to GMpartsdirect you can get everything much cheaper.

Sounds like the same motor that was in my 08. No VVT that I am aware of.
