Yellows stand up to high current draws better. Red is good for starting but not lights, stereos and fuel pumps etc.

Like he said if you are stock or just need to start red is fine otherwise get a yellow top.

optima are junk...they seem to not be able to withstand long periods of downtime. Ive had great luck with AC delco batterys. ive had times were it wasnt started in over a yr and fires right up with good juice

^^^^ Correct, any deep cycle battery (such as Optima) requires continuous use or needs to be on a trickle charge meant for deep cycle batteries.

I myself am not a fan of trickle chargers. One buddy lost a truck and another lost a camp and his Rhino.

Hell, my 04 still has the original AC Delco in it @ 137K on the clock.

Optima's are like Royal Purple. All hype, mediocre product, GREAT advertising.

I'll stand by my yellow top till it lets me down. My truck was down for 2 almost 3 months. Battery was completely out. After everything was back together truck started on first crank. Been in the truck for 5 years with a system the whole time. In Arizona we say "you don't buy batteries here...you just rent them". My mom has a 98 Suburban and she's gone through 4 interstate batteries in the same amount of time. Father-in-law has an 03 dodge ram...65k miles...hes gone through 5 drualast golds in 5 years.

I had a yellow top in the truck that was totalled after hitting an elk, the battery was smashed into the firewall, the next day i went out to the truck, and it still started, only reason i dont own one now is cuz ive been spending money on other crap, but itll soon have one.
