    your old cam had positive 7 degree over overlap and new has neg 8.

    6 positive, not 7.

    I've always been taught to add the BTDC and the ATDC. The BTDC is 2 and the ATDC is 4.

    Overlap in degrees is how long of the 360 degree stroke both intake and exhaust valves are open.
