Do like he said, but you wont see 6" rear drop. To get 6 inches, you'll have to buy a flip kit. It flips the leafs from over the axle, to under the axle. (or run de-arched leafs, which i do NOT recommend)

Its really a toss up between lca's and spindles. Spindles is what you'll need when you bag it, they do push the wheel out and down, but its not noticable. If i didn't say it, you'd never know by looking.

LCA's you lose some ground clearance. So you would hit on things like speed bumps and steep entrances.

So even with the 4" lower leaf springs and 2" shackles you wouldn't get 6", I didn't know that good you pointed that out.

For the 88-98 fullsizes, i dont believe that is possible with that combo. Like 3" control arms and 2" spindles with 2" springs do NOT equal 7" of drop. They start to concel each other out.

For the 88-98, the only way to get a true 6" is flip kit. I haven't played with the 99 and up's much, so i can't tell you much about them.

I also have Bilstiens all the way around.
I know, kind of an old thread....

I'm in need of shocks (stockers are leaking), and since I'm planning on the 2/4 Hotchkis drop soon, I don't know if I should go with the Edelbrock IAS shocks that Hotchkis recommends with the truck, or with Bilstein's. I know I'm not going with stock again....
I've read many complaints about the IAS, but I also know a guy here who has em and loves em. So I guess it's just the luck of the draw???

99 red silver: How are the Bilsteins? Are those the HD shocks? Do you happen to know the part number and what you paid for em?

Anyone tried both and can give me a comparison?

    Thanks,
    Chingon

I love the way they ride. I had the truck lower and installed the stocks at the same time. Corners well and smooth drive. I love my setup. I was really surprised on how much the ride changed and improved from stock to the Hotchkis and Bilstien. I do not know the stock # off hand but I will see if my friends has it that order for me from I think Advance auto parts. We did a two step because we when thought where he works. He did not make them up much but he had to. I repost with the numbers later and price later.

I have seen that there is a lot of you who have this kit on your trucks. I was wondering how the handling is? I am looking at getting this kit when I get the money, but I drive on crappy roads with potholes all over. I am not sure if this kit would handle well on crappy roads. Also, do you feel the kit was worth the money? Thanks for any information y'all can give.

I will let you know tomorrow (hopefully). I have everything; 2" coils, 4" leafs and sway bars all sitting in my room right now and not on my truck
I thought I'd just go down to 4WheelParts and pick up a set of shocks, but the Edelbrock IAS are a special order, so I have to wait until they get in to put the stuff on.
    DAMN IT!
I've been waiting so damn long for this, once it's on I'll let you know how it handles, etc. and even get some videos if ya want

Can you ride on stock shocks after you get the 2/4 drop or will you bottom out too much?

I would imagine you would bottom out because the stock shocks are meant for comfort and have alot of give....
With my IAS shocks it's very stiff so I can go over bumps, etc. just as fast as when I had the stock suspension on.
    Hotchkis all the way.
